When’s the best time to go?
In general, the north and the middle of the country are always hot. In summer they get stinking hot, so it's best to go in winter (July to September).
The summer months are December to February, which is therefore high season for most of the country. The further south you go, the more mild it is. In winter the southern states get pretty chilly and quite wet while further north is mild and sunny a lot of the time.
For current weather and climate, check out the Bureau of Meteorology.
