Beaches are just so damn beautiful sometimes that you simply can't help nuding up in order to appreciate it fully. Finding a place that is welcoming to your free flapping liberalism may be easy in some parts of the world, and a bit more difficult in others. Here are ten of the best spots to get sandy and red in sensitive places.
10. Paklina beach, Croatia
You'd be hard pressed to find a beach in Croatia which isn't relaxed on the clothing front, however Paklina Beach on the island of Brac (just next to Hvar). Few places are as wonderful as the Adriatic coast to get your kit off, with as many as 30 official naturist resorts and countless unofficial beaches lining a Riviera full of natural beauty and beautiful bodies.
9. Kehena beach, Hawaii
Out on the eastern tip of the Big Island, the sultry black sands of Kehena Beach await to caress your bare skin. On the other side of a long and rugged trail across lava rock you'll find this gem of privacy and natural wonder. The only ones coming to perve will be the dolphins.
8. Montalivet, France
Monta is a giant Mecca of naturism, the 2km-long beach fronting a naturist resort with all sorts of accommodation and activities for the free-skinned individual or family.
7. Haulover Beach, Miami
Just north of Miami beach you'll find this Government-sanctioned nude beach flaunting some of the city's best assets. We're talking about white sands and warm, crystal waters of course.
6. El Templo Del Sol, Spain
Not far from Barcelona, El Templo Del Sol beach is part of one of Europe's largest nudist resorts. It's a long beach with all sorts of great family activities going on like volleyball ball and archery. Only here there are extra balls and extra arrows.
5. Olho de Boi, Buzios, Brazil
On the east side of the Buzios peninsula you'll find this hard-to-reach cove housing white sands, warm water and freedom to hang as loos as you like. It's a long trek to reach but you'll be treated with a bulls eye when you get there (Ohlo de Boi means Bulls Eye, obviously).
4. Bellevue Beach, Copenhagen
Denmark isn't known for its beaches, but this one just minutes outside of Copenhagen is notorious for attractive flocks of young folk when the weather warms up, who come with their music and their nudity and all those things kids like to do these days.
3. Red Beach, Crete
Just 20 minutes walk out of Matala on the island of Crete, Red Beach is a small and very secluded stretch of sand. The steep climb up and down to get there will be rewarded with crystal waters lapping up against stunning boulders of all kinds...
2. Samurai beach, Australia
Samurai beach is at the north end of One Mile Beach in Port Stephens, just a couple of hours drive north of Sydney. With a long history in common disregard for clothing, there's a strong naturist community that flocks to the beach, particularly for the nude Olympics and the big nude picnic which happen every year.
1. Grand Saline, St Bart's
It may not be the easiest to get to, buy my goodness will it be worth it. While most of the French West Indies' beaches are 'toptional', Grand Saline is one long, paradisaical stretch of sand naturalism. You can't get 'away from it all' much more than stripping down on a sunny beach, on a little island in the middle of the Caribbean.
